Ahead of the Lok Sabha polls, the Election Commission has announced postal ballot facility for personnel engaged in essential services. Absentee Voters on Essential Services (AVES) include personnel working with 12 departments/ organisations.


However, they will be required to cast their votes only at the Postal Voting Centres (PVC) of the respective parliamentary constituency in which they are registered.


The Special Commissioner of Election Commission has instructed officials to provide the list from 12 departments Addressing the media at BBMP Central Office in Bengaluru regarding AVES under BBMP limits, he said that the facility will be extended to personnel listed by the 12 departments. After receiving the list of eligible personnel from the said departments, Form 12D shall be filled and submitted to the commission by Friday, March 22, 2024.


The departments/establishments include

1.   Electricity Department

2.    BSNL

3.   Railways

4.   Doordarshan

5.   All India Radio

6.   Health Department

7.   Aviation

8.   KSRTC/BMTC 

9.   Fire Services

10. Ambulance services

11.  Traffic Police

12.  Media persons authorized by the Election Commission for the coverage of polls
